A New Kind of “Football”

A New Kind of “Football”

When the NFL UK series began in 2007 with a game between the Miami Dolphins and the New York Giants in London, the goal of the expansion was to grow the NFL’s international fan base. Now 10 years and 17 games later, with 4 more coming in 2017, the NFL has achieved their goal and then some. With a measured fan base of over 13 million people, almost every game played in London has completely sold out. And after this season, 26 of the 32 NFL teams will have played a game across the pond.

Each time the NFL is in town, thousands of passionate fans come out to watch their favorite football stars. Look around and you’ll see apparel from every NFL team being worn by the some 80,000+ fans that pack Wembley or Twickenham stadium. But the fun and excitement isn’t just contained within the stadium. Last year, a staggering 600,000 people flocked the streets between Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Circus for the award-winning NFL on Regent Street Fan Festival, which is returning for the fifth time in September 2017. From on-stage appearances by NFL players, to merchandise stands of all 32 teams, and an NFL Lab station used to test skills against the pros, the event entertains fans all day.
