2017 Pro Bowl Saturday Recap

2017 Pro Bowl Saturday Recap

The Chalk Talk

Saturday included a special “Chalk Talk” gathering with Merril Hoge, former running back for the Steelers and Bears, and Warrick Dunn, a former running back for the Buccaneers and Falcons. The two talked about life in the NFL before taking pictures with attendees.

 The Practice

Guests made their way over to watch the AFC and NFC squads practice on a beautiful, warm Orlando afternoon. When the business of the day was complete, players including “Ha Ha” Clinton Dix, Thomas Davis Sr. and Greg Olsen hung around to talk with fans.

Richard Sherman, the all-pro defender for the Seattle Seahawks, attracted the largest crowd, and stayed until everyone who wanted one got an autograph or selfie. A guest said “meeting all the players and getting the chance for my children to interact with all of them was a really cool opportunity.”

  The Party

On Location Experiences took over the Paddlefish restaurant Saturday night for a private reception with NFL stars and other special guests. The event, which took place on old ‘paddleboat’ docked in the harbor of Disney Springs in Orlando, was a perfect way for guests to wind down after a full day of 2017 Pro Bowl activities.

Guests were welcomed by the Houston Texans cheerleaders, before fanning out across three different levels of the venue to feast on an award-winning menu of local favorites, including: ribeye steak, ahi tuna, scallops, salmon, oysters, and macaroni and cheese.

Throughout the evening, some of the NFL’s biggest names mixed and mingled with the crowd, welcomed guests and answered questions. Former NFL quarterback, Mark Brunell, who grew up in Florida, said he was thrilled to be back in Orlando to watch the Pro Bowl. He later told the crowd how he was applying what he had learned playing for some of the NFL’s best coaches, like former Giants head coach Tom Coughlin, to work as a high school football coach. “He was one of those coaches that got the best out of you,” Brunell said.

Current Carolina Panthers star, Greg Olsen, when asked how he felt about not making it to the Super Bowl this season, said after making the big game last year, he was disappointed to be sitting this one out, but added “starting Monday morning after the Super Bowl, I’ll be getting ready for the next season.”

Before heading out for the evening, guests were treated to a special performance by the Texans Cheerleaders. On Location Experiences guest Paul Santez summed up the day best, “This is crazy and really incredible!” – and it’s just the beginning.
